More details

In this New Territories Heritage Walk For Two, explore these historic buildings in one of the oldest Chinese villages in the New Territories!

For centuries, New Territories has been settled and farmed by migrant peoples who had moved south from inland China. Five dominant clans emerged from these settlements and started their own villages and temples in the New Territories area of Hong Kong.

In this 4.5-hour experience, you will be able to visit the villages belonging to the Tang family in Yuen Long and Kam Tin - one of the five dominant clans. Located on the north side of Kam Tin River, Shui Tau Village and Shui Mei Village are among the oldest villages in Hong Kong. You will visit the nearby temples, clan halls and study halls which all feature exquisite traditional pottery and woodwork. Explore the history of this clan in the Tang Si Chung Ancestral Hall which has been used for centuries for worship, festivals, ceremonies, and clan meetings. Towards the end of the tour, you will also see the Tsui Sing Lau Pagoda which had been built for feng shui purposes to ensure the continued prosperity and security of the clan. Through this experience, you will learn more about the history of Hong Kong and the traditions of the Chinese clans.

Join this New Territories Heritage Walk Experience and learn more about the ancient Chinese history of Hong Kong!
