Discover Hong Kong’s Deserted Beaches for Two

Average rating:

HK$1,600

Spend all day savoring the quiet and sea-salt air as you walk along Hong Kong’s secluded beaches inaccessible by road and nearly always deserted. Enjoy the spectacular mountain and coastal views as you walk along the coastline.

More details

This experience takes you on a hiking adventure to the white sandy beaches and their clear blue waters located in the remote East Sai Kung Country Park, where access is restricted to foot or boat. The hike will take you along coastline backed by lush tropical vegetation and forested ridges offering breathtaking views. Following a network of paths, often on inter-village routes, we pass fascinating old Hakka clan villages. The Hakka farmers nurtured feng shui woods which provide a great breeding environment for native species and we can see many examples of natural reforestation.

Discover Deserted Beaches offers a unique insight into the homes, lands and beaches that these villagers left behind. Although just 20km from Kowloon, this walk will make you feel a world away.

What to wear

  1. Footwear: We recommend that you wear either robust walking shoes or trainers/sneakers. Casual sandals or open shoes are not suitable for trails, which can be rocky in places.
  2. Clothing: Sun and rainfall can be intense and a hat is recommended. During the winter season (November – March) temperatures can drop with a chilling wind, so a sweater/fleece is advisable. During the wet season (April – September) a waterproof jacket is recommended. In warmer months (May – October) it is advisable to carry a spare T–shirt or other garment to change into at the end of the hike.
  3. Skin Protection: Suntan lotion should be used throughout the year and applied frequently during the hike.
  4. Water: Please carry sufficient water for your own needs. In the warmer months, this may equate to one liter for every two hours of walking. Dehydration is a real risk on hot days. Choose mineralized rather than distilled water. Consider an electrolyte replacement drink as well.

I bought this gift for my husband for a significant birthday and we both thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Our guide, Susan, was very friendly, experienced and knowledgable. We loved the beaches and rainforest and the food where we had lunch was really delicious. Would highly recommend this experience!

our trip started at Hongkong Central. From there we took the train, bus and taxi to get to the hiking-start point. The journey to there was an experience per se. In less than one hour your out from all the skyscrapers and the beautiful green. The hiking trip was on a concrete path - so not as "swiss-hiking". But it was good to be outside the big city for a while. :-) We went to a small lovely place at the beach to eat and then took the same way back. I took us about 3-4 hours walking in a lonely place.
A really good experience to "escape" the city.

Jackie was a delightful and knowledgeable guide and was able to tailor the experience for us (as we had already done parts of the planned route).

The day took in reservoirs, deserted beaches, a picnic, noodles and Tofu Fa at Sai Wan beach. We learned a lot about the history of the villages, the reservoir and the development of Sai Kung town.

A great experience and highly recommended.
