In this intensive four-session jewellery design course, master the age old craft of jewellery making and create an original sterling silver masterpiece of your own design. Design a one-of-a-kind ring*, necklace, bracelet, or pair of earrings or cufflinks for a timeless gift that can be worn for years to come.

Session 1: Introduction to Jewellery Making
You will begin with an introduction to the jewellery making process in Session 1, where you will create an alphabet pendant from start to finish. Familiarize yourself with the tools of the trade and learn the basic techniques of jewellery making, including saw piercing, soldering, filing, and finishing techniques.

Session 2, 3, 4: Jewellery Design
Come with a design in mind for Session 2 and work under the expert guidance of your instructor to map out the steps required to create your piece. After preparing your pattern, you will bring your design to life in Sessions 3 and 4. Hone your understanding of the foundational jewellery making skills and learn additional techniques to manipulate silver specific to your jewellery design, such as ring shaping, texturing, doming and more.

At the end of this experience, you will have two exquisite pieces of handcrafted jewellery.

*Stone-setting is not included in this course.

This Experience Voucher is valid for 1 person in a group session of minimum 4 and maximum 6 people.

Availability and Duration
This Experience lasts for 10 hours (4 sessions x 2.5 hours) and must be completed within 2 months.

Bookings can be made on weekday evenings from 6:30 – 9:00 pm and subject to availability. Private bookings are available at any day and any time. Bookings must be made at least 1 week in advance.

Participants must be at least 16 years old. 14 and 15 year olds may participate, if there is a designated guardian in attendance.

The studio is a safe environment for anyone who is pregnant. However, if you are undertaking a task that generates dust, we will offer a face mask to cover the nose and mouth as a precaution.

Extra Information
This Experience includes:

  • Instruction from a professionally trained Jeweller. She has worked with international brands such as Tiffany, Follie Follie and Shanghai Tang.
  • All materials and equipment necessary, including:
  • One sheet of sterling silver to create a standard-sized alphabet pendant
  • Up to 22g of sterling silver in rod, sheet or wire form for your main jewellery piece
  • A welcome pack emailed to you with information on jewellery making and design

If you choose to create a piece that requires more than the provided metal, you may purchase additional sterling silver from your instructor at market price.

Participants will be required to sign a Liability Waiver upon arrival.


Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)


Q: I have no idea how to start designing my piece! What should I do?
A: Your welcome pack will include tips about jewellery design. During Session 1, you will also be able to interact with other students who are in later stages of the design process and look through reference books for inspiration!

Before coming in for Session 2, you may get in touch with the instructor to discuss your ideas. She will assist you in preparing your pattern in time for Session 2.

Q: Must I finish my work in 4 consecutive weeks?
A: No, you have 2 months to complete the course. You are encouraged not to take too long of a break between Sessions 2 to 4, so you don’t lose momentum! If you would like more time to perfect your piece, you may arrange for additional classes after the course at $500 per class.

Q: Can I include gems in my design?
A: No, gem setting is an advanced technique and will not be taught in this course.
