The Digital Film Making Workshop is a 2-day weekend experience that is perfect for beginners to start making films. The purpose of this experience is to teach you how to make a movie that tells a story. In a small group, you will write a storyline, shoot, edit and produce your short film. By the end of this experience each participant will have made their very own 2-minute short film.

Whether you are a complete beginner or have some experience with a video camera, this workshop will offer you a fun experience in film making.

 

Itinerary
Saturday - AM
    Learn the fundamental principles and techniques of filming and film production. Learn how to make a movie that tells a story.
Saturday - PM
    Working in small groups of 3 or 4 students, you will come up with a story and shoot a short film using the simple camcorder provided. Plan your story and your set, as well as who will play the roles in front and behind the camera. Each group must not shoot more than 20 minutes of footage.
Sunday - AM
    Each participant will be given a tape with all the footage shot by their group on the first day. Using Casablanca editing machines, you will each start editing your own versions of your short film. The final film must not exceed 2 minutes.
Sunday - PM
    Continue to edit your films. After you have finished your films, comments will be given by the instructor and fellow students. Also you will be given a DVD of your films to take home.

This experience voucher is valid for one person. Each class has a maximum of 10 people.

This workshop lasts for 2 full days. The available dates include:
March weekend class1: 5th and 6th March 2011, Saturday and Sunday (10am-6pm)
March weekend class2: 12th and 13th March 2011, Saturday and Sunday (10am-6pm) - FULL
July weekend class: 9th and 10th July 2011, Saturday and Sunday (10am-6pm)

The experience will be rescheduled in the event the Hong Kong Observatory issues a typhoon warning number 8 or above.

What to Wear
Casual. You may also be acting in your short film, so you may wish to bring accessories or props.

Suitability information
This experience is suitable for all those interested in filmmaking. Beginners and those aged above 12 are all welcome!

Extra information
This experience includes the use of all equipment: a simple camcorder, props for use in filming and a Casablanca Editing System. At the end of the experience, DVD of your finished films will be provided.
Lunch is not included, but a restaurant is available near the studio.
